The Tacoma Trades Council was organized in 1890 as an independent organization. It was dormant March, 1895 until November, 1899 when it affiliated with the American Federation of Labor. After it was dissolved in September, 1907, a new body, the Tacoma Central Labor Council, was chartered by the AFL in November, 1907.
